Entry 11: Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure --- Video Game Rankings (NES)

And here we are at the tavern again! Let's go ahead and do a NES video game!

Info---

Game: Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure
Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: August 1991
ESRB: (originally not rated)
Difficulty Rating (1-5): 4.55
Genre: Action/Adventure
Developer: LJN
Price: Lose - $19.29 Complete - $78.14  New - $200.52
Worth Playing?: No!

In 1989 Orion pictures put up $10 million to put out a comedy adventure film about 2 less than intelligent friends who get a sci-fi phone booth and travel through time. Sounds stupid, but the movie is a classic. It made $40 million! So per the NES usual LJN got the rights for the video game. Would it be good or would the curse continue?

The story begins when Rufus summons Bill S. Preston Esq. and "Ted" Theodore Logan for a mission. The boys arrive at different times; first Ted then Bill. They are informed that time-space rebels have gone back in time, kidnapping various historical figures and leaving them stranded in different time periods. So now they must travel to the time periods, retrieve these figures and return them to their correct time periods.
Sounds cool, but it's not. How do you find the items for the historical figures? By jumping into things. It's stupid. The music is fine, but it quits after 2 minutes.
The game is aggravating garbage. Do yourself a favor and never play this game! So here's the inevitable rating....

NES Rankings:
#1 Super Mario Bros.
#2 TMNT
#3 Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure

Entry 8: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles --- Video Game Rankings (NES)

Welcome back to the tavern! For today we are looking at the second NES game I am adding to our gaming list. Now this one might seem weird to add early on. But it was one of the first NES games I had ever played. What game is that?

Info---

Game: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: June 25, 1989
ESRB: (originally not rated)
Difficulty Rating (1-5): 4.24
Genre: Action/Platforming
Developer: Konami
Price: Lose - $11.50 Complete - $85  New - $1,938.15

Originally Nintendo had this odd rule that publishers could only release so many video games a year for them. So Konami got around that by releasing this under the Ultra games moniker. But it's truly a Konami game. So how is the game though?

Hard as nails platforming. But super fun. It's cool to play as all the turtles. Music is good. Platforming is fun. Game does get very hard by the end. Great game though and a good add to your NES collection!

Where am I ranking it? Well it would beat a ton of NES games. But Not Mario. So here's my updated list:

NES Rankings:
#1 Super Mario Bros.
#2 TMNT

Entry 7: The Legend of the Mystical Ninja --- Video Game Rankings (SNES)

Welcome back to the gamer's tavern! Today we have another Super Nintendo game ranking. It might seem obscure to some readers. But I actually owned this game as a kid. And it's an interesting doozy. Welcome to Legend of the Mystical Ninja!

Info---

Game: The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: February 1992
ESRB: (originally not rated)
Difficulty Rating (1-5): 3.75
Genre: 3D Platformer/RPG
Developer: Konami
Price: Lose - $57.34 Complete - $194.01  New - $621.00
Worth Playing?: Yes!

The first game in the Japanese video game series Ganbare Goemon to have a western release, as a kid I simply knew it as Kid Ying and Dr. Yang. The game is a mix between platformer and moderate RPG elements. It's odd for sure. And I wouldn't exactly call it a classic. Still with all that being said, it is a lot of fun. The game is not easy due to when you get hit you lose your current power level. Also it had an odd storyline for a Western audience. But that adds to it's charm honestly. So where is it going on my list?

SNES Rankings:
#1 The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
#2 Clue

A new number 1! Hope you enjoyed this nostalgia. Game on!

Entry 6: Super Mario Bros. --- Video Game Rankings (NES)

So let's start at the beginning. No, not the first NES game. But for many of us it's the first NES game we probably ever played. Singlehandedly this is one of the most important video games of all time. It saved the video game industry after the crash of 1983. What am I talking about? The original Super Mario Brothers.

Info---

Game: Super Mario Bros.
Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: October 18, 1985
ESRB: E (originally not rated)
Genre: Action/Platforming
Difficulty Rating (1-5): 3.05
Director: Shigeru Miyamoto
Developer: Nintendo
Worth Playing?: Yes
Price: Lose - $11.47 Complete - $265  New - $3,946.05

The second best selling Mario game of all time. It launched a series and is iconic to this day. I personally played it at a friend's house and then in the late 80s had my own NES. What can I say? One of the best games of all time! Also note when it comes to the pricing, you can get the game way cheaper if you get the Duck Hunt bundle with it.

The game is lots of fun. Sure playing it now you look at it as a very simple and easy to beat platformer. But it was so revolutionary at the time. I still remember playing it as a kid and I even played it today. Such a great game.

I was inspired by a YouTuber to add a list of how I rank each video game I look at. So as this is my first video game review, this is the current list of my personal ranking:

NES Rankings:
#1 Super Mario Bros.

Stay tuned for more video games and other gaming content! Lost more to come!

Entry 5: Clue --- Video Game Rankings (SNES)

Pull up a chair gamer and welcome to the tavern! On this blog we are all things gaming related. Including video games too! So for my first SNES game ranking I figured I'd start with a board game! How fitting huh? Who killed Mr. Body? Time to find out in.....

Info---

Game: Clue
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: September 1992
ESRB: (originally not rated)
Difficulty Rating (1-5): 0.5
Genre: Board Game/Strategy
Developer: Sculptured Software
Play it: Yes.
Price: Lose - $6.99 Complete - $23.54  New - $77.65

The board game of Clue is a classic. It's been around since 1949. If you haven't played it, it's a board game where you are trying to figure out which character is a killer. To win you do this by process of elimination. You need to figure out the killer, the room, and the murder weapon.

Board game is great. Video game is mediocre at best. You have to look away from the screen at times when there is info displayed you are not privy too. It's fine. But wasted as a video game. I'd just break out the board game instead. Especially if you have the Master Detective version.

So for my ranking, this is the only time it will be ranked #1. So enjoy Clue! You probably won't stay at the top though....

SNES Rankings:
#1 Clue

So here we go with our SNES rankings! To be honest it is one of my favorite systems of all time. So there is plenty more to come! Stay tuned!
